Katie Colfer Reece
Katie instructs hunter jumper and dressage riders, with success at both local and national levels. Katie is a graduate of Dartmouth College, and was a working student for Lendon Gray. She returned to Northern Michigan in 2006 and has made her home here. Originally running the Birchwood Farm Equestrian Center for Larry & Nancy Beck, Katie ran her business from their facility from 2009-2020. In June of 2020 Katie fulfilled a 10 year dream of moving the business to her own property in Alanson, MI. Katie is a USHJA certified trainer who continues her education by regularly hosting and attending clinics for many disciplines. “Although my primary interest is in hunters, equitation and jumpers, all of my teaching and training is based on classical dressage principals and basic horse sense taught by horsemen like Mark Rashid.”
Laurie David
Laurie joined the team in 2021. A life-long horse woman, Laurie was also a career special ed teacher in the Char-Em school system. Now retired Laurie teaches many of our beginner lessons as well as running our camps. She loves giving students of all ages a great foundation in proper horsemanship, and equitation.
